Medical Abortion Includes Two Drugs

Also known as medical abortion, the abortion pill process includes two powerful drugs that terminate a pregnancy. The first drug, mifepristone, blocks progesterone from reaching the pregnancy. All pregnancies need progesterone to develop and grow. Without it, they cannot survive.

The second drug, misoprostol, causes bleeding and contractions to remove the pregnancy and tissue from the body.

There are risks to you when having a medical abortion (the abortion pill).
